Grape origin
Morcote, Ticino.
DOC Castello di Morcote organically certified and biodinamically managed vineyards, terraces with a 30-35 % slope, vines approx. 35 years old. Loose soil resting on rose porphyry, a volcanic rock peculiar to the promontory of Arbostora. Microclimate generated by the thermal winds blowing on the lake. Altitude between 400 and 500 metres above sea level.
Vinification and ageing
Maceration on the skins with manual pumping over and punching down for about 20-25 days in truncated conical wooden vats at a controlled temperature. Ageing takes place for at least 12 months in barriques of different sizes, mainly of second and third passage, to maintain the peculiarities of the elegant and delicate fragrances of this wine.
Tasting notes
Ruby red colour with violet reflections. A complex bouquet on the nose, dominated by Merlot's typical aromas of dark berries, especially blackberries and black cherries, complemented by hints of spice and balsamic notes on the finish. Balanced on the palate, supported by well-structured yet silky tannins that contribute to a long finish. The tannic structure and good acidity make this wine suitable for long aging, helping it maintain its youthful and vibrant character for many years. A Merlot with great character that authentically expresses the specific terroir of Morcote.
