Grape origin
Morbio Superiore, Ticino.
Hilly vineyards facing south-east located above the Breggia Gorges with alternating deep, clayey soils as well as soils rich in gravel and stones. Thermal currents from the Muggio Valley guarantee perfect ventilation and they quickly dry leaves and bunches even after heavy rainfall. Altitude between 400 and 450 meters above sea level.
Vinification and ageing
Manual selection of grapes from the best plots in the vineyards. Vinification with skin contact for about 35 days in temperature-controlled truncated cone-shaped wooden vats. The prolonged maceration, combined with manual pumping over and punching down, enhances the quality of the original grapes.
Ageing for about 24 months in new French oak barriques followed by further 12-18 months in the bottle. This wine is produced in limited quantities and only in the best vintages.

Tasting notes
A very intense purplish-red colour. The nose is explosive and expressive, dominated by notes of ripe red fruit and spices, accompanied by hints of tobacco and leather. After a few minutes in the glass, it opens up, becoming even more expressive.
On the palate, the notes of red fruit, tobacco and chocolate return, accompanied by spices on the finish. It has a substantial structure, thanks to the very hot vintage which produced extremely concentrated and rich grapes. The firm tannins, which will become creamier in 2–3 years’ time (2027–2028), and the lovely acidity will help to make this a wine with great ageing potential.
