Tenuta Castello di Morcote is a 150-hectare farm and wine estate located on a promontory entirely surrounded by Lugano Lake. The estate includes seven hectares of terraced vineyards, olive groves, broad pastures and woods. At the centre of the Tenuta, in a dominant position, stands the Morcote Castle, built in the 15th century.

This magnetic place, nestled between the Pre-Alps and the Po Valley, boasts an exceptional terroir for viticulture. The vineyards are located between 400 and 500 metres above sea level on steep south-facing slopes, the climate is regulated by thermal lake winds and the soil consists of pink porphyry, a quartzite of volcanic origin: all this is unique in Ticino.
Our family has owned the estate for four generations. Dedicating ourselves to viticulture, to this land, is a gift and a privilege for us and we are very grateful for it. We wish to have the utmost respect for the environment: we leave the vineyard grassed, we work manually following the principles of organic agriculture in balance with Nature and our surroundings. In this way we can protect and promote biodiversity.
The varieties cultivated in the terraced vineyards around the Castello di Morcote are Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay.
Further south in the Mendrisiotto, a region characterised by the presence of limestone soils, lie the vineyards of Ligornetto, Tremona and Morbio Superiore from which come Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, as well as most of our white grapes, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.
Our role in the cellar is to guide the grapes by interfering as little as possible, so that the wines can express the terroir they come from to the fullest and with authenticity.
